The Next Step Domestic Violence Project is a private, nonprofit organization devoted to serving the needs of people affected by domestic violence through education and social change.
- We believe that all people have a right to be free of verbal, psychological, emotional, sexual, financial and physical abuse.
- We celebrate diversity in gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation and life experience.
- We listen and accept the perspective of the people that we serve, without judgment.
- We listen to understand, not to criticize, judge or find fault.
- We are ever mindful that everything that we do must be considered in the light of how our words or actions will impact upon the people that we serve.
- We provide assistance in a manner that preserves dignity and self-esteem.
- We serve people who are abused by their partners and those who are concerned for and about the abused.
- We reach into the community with education about the dynamics of domestic violence and work on means to end it.
- We believe that every individual has a right to live in safety and without fear of abuse. We offer hope, love and respect to ourselves, our clients and our community in order to foster empowerment, personal dignity, equality and freedom. Through these values, we strive to change the world.
